XFC Academy Program

The Xcel Futbol Academy assists players making the transition from recreational to competitive soccer. Our focus is U7-U11 players, boys and girls. The objective is on technical skills development, agility, and speed with the ball. Players who take part in the Academy will enjoy improved confidence as a player and will find they are well prepared for the next level.

The Academy curriculum is designed specifically for each age group and level of player. Our licensed staff coaches use a combination of technical skills development and small sided games to first establish technical competence, then present tactical decision making. The Xcel Academy seeks to produce youth soccer players who are comfortable with the ball at their feet, creative in their play, and are able to enjoy this sport at whatever level they enjoy.

The Academy Director, Jonnie Zulauf, holds both the NSCAA National license and the US Soccer Federation C license. A Freshman starter for Marshall University, Jonnie offers a depth of experience and leadership in soccer training as well in sports medicine, team building and motivation techniques. His ability to connect with developing players however, is his most compelling credential. Jonnie organized and has directed the Zulauf Soccer Academy for youth since 1995. He and is brother Andy Zulauf started the Greater Teays Soccer Club Youth Academy in 2007. Training recreational players from age 5 to 16, the Zulaufs have been helping recreational and competitive players achieve their potential for over 20 years. We are very pleased to have Jonnie bring his experience and passion to organizing an academy for our region’s youth.
