XFC Academy Program

The Xcel Futbol Academy assists players making the transition from recreational to competitive soccer. Our focus is U7-U11 players, boys and girls. The objective is on technical skills development, agility, and speed with the ball. Players who take part in the Academy will enjoy improved confidence as a player and will find they are well prepared for the next level.

The Academy curriculum is designed specifically for each age group and level of player. Our licensed staff coaches use a combination of technical skills development and small sided games to first establish technical competence, then present tactical decision making. The Xcel Academy seeks to produce youth soccer players who are comfortable with the ball at their feet, creative in their play, and are able to enjoy this sport at whatever level they enjoy.

Former Academy Director and Founder, Jonnie Zulauf, holds both the NSCAA National license and the US Soccer Federation C license. A Freshman starter for Marshall University, Jonnie’s vision and that of the Academy today is to create players who possess mastery of the game fundamentals.  At the Academy level, the game-as-teacher is emphasized.  We do not intend to put pressure on players.  Win or lose, players must develop poise and the will to play at their best.  The foundational notion of “be your best” win or lose is what sets a player up for a lifetime of true enjoyment in competitive activities…including soccer.  Strong technical skills developed in the Academy will make players stand out wherever they go in their soccer pursuits.
